Happy Saturday to you and I hope that your weekend is going well so far. It is the first week of the month and you know what that means- It’s time to do the numbers!

September was big for the housing market on a national level because Janet Yellen and the Fed decided to keep interest rates where they are. Good, bad, or indifferent, that means that buyers can afford more home and sellers have a bigger buyer pool to market to. That’s good news for buyers and sellers currently in the market. Although no one knows when rates will rise, most economists anticipate an interest rate rise before the end of 2015 which decreases buyers purchase power.

Locally, we have seen many of the same trends as last month. Low inventory, increased prices. We are currently at about a 5 month supply which is lower than it has been in a long time and is contributing to the rising average sale price.
