Quail Creek Overlook

Believe it or not, summer is quickly approaching its end and the temps will soon be back to where you can spend most of the day outside. If you are looking for one last adventure on the water but want to get a hike/bike in, check out Quail Creek Overlook.

The overlook trail is a great way to enjoy views of Pine Valley Mountain, Quail Creek Reservoir, the Virgin River, and the Red Desert Reserve on technical singletrack with an option to take a swim (or cliff jump) into the reservoir! From the south dam, it is just a quick and somewhat technical hike along the hill to take a quick plunge into the reservoir and cool off.

Although this portion of the trail is only 6.5 miles long, it is technical and always feels like I did at least 10 miles on my bike. There are several options to shorten the length of the trail and if you are looking for a longer day, make sure to check out Varsity Scout, Boy Scout, and Rhythm and Blues which are all located within the same trail network.
